2021 NATIONALS

2021 USTA National Championships, Rochester, MN on June 14-19, 2021.

May 7, 2020
I am writing this statement to give the final update in regards to the 2020 USTA National Championships. The Executive Board has been working diligently to pursue every possible opportunity to hold nationals this year! I realize it is the culminating event of the season and a display of all of your hard work. Due to the Governor of Illinois decision of NO YOUTH SPORTS through the month of July and the COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions, I am disappointed to share, that the 2020 USTA National Championship is now cancelled. The USTA wants to place the health and safety of its members and family as a sole priority and we feel it is best to miss this event to be able to look forward to future events. We will be returning to Springfield, Illinois for the 2023 National Championship because of this cancellation. It is strongly recommended that you take a moment to cancel any room reservation, as well as request a refund for advance ticket sales. Please note that all award nominations will be sent out on Monday for each club in good standing to cast their vote for each national award. You can email or send your votes to the national office. Although nationals will not take place, we are excited to honor our respective nominees. Please take a moment and decide who will earn your vote! #USTAstrong

Hello USTA! I hope this update finds each of you well and finding ways of reinventing your time during this social distancing. I wanted to take a moment and give you the most recent update for the USTA.

With much discussion, the USTA has chosen to change the dates of the 2020 USTA Nationals. With the unprecedented shut downs enforced with many states, including Illinois where our national event is held this year, we felt it best to look for an alternative plan that allows the date to be farther away from the predicted closures. After contacting the convention center, the only other date they have available for our event is July 27-31, 2020. We are moving forward with this new date. The published schedule of events will be altered based on entries.

Hotels have been contacted and they will work with the date change to accommodate reservations. They have asked for a few weeks to prepare for those changes involving your personal reservations. We are working with them and as soon as they indicate they are prepared for phone calls regarding our event we will share that information with you. At that time each will need to contact the hotel and update and/or cancel the reservation. IT WILL NOT BE DONE AUTOMATICALLY!

Ticketmaster is the vendor for our advanced ticket sales. We are currently working with them to adjust already purchased event tickets to be altered to align to our new event date and/or refunded if necessary.

Please know that this situation continues to be very fluid and the USTA is working diligently to navigate through this challenging time. #USTAstrong

March 15, 2020 - FAQ

Q:  Can a gym who was forced to cancel their Invitational or State competition due to COVID 19 host another competition before Nationals?

A:  No, the USTA Executive board stands behind our original decision to cancel and/or not host any competition until Nationals in June 2020.  Due to the uncharted territory we are in, we do not feel comfortable sanctioning events at this time.

Q:  As a Meet Director who was forced to cancel my competition is there any opportunity to recoup facility fees?

A:  The USTA will address the losses from Meet Directors on venue fees and deposits on a case by case basis. The Meet Director would need to provide to the Executive Board with the following:  Proof of Payment, Original Contract, Venue Contact information

Q:  What are the requirements to compete at Nationals 2020?

A:  Athletes can move up to any level at Nationals

All athletes can compete at Nationals regardless of if they met the one meet requirement as long as the have an active USTA athlete membership this season on or before 3/15/2020

Nominations and entries for Nationals are all still due on their original deadlines

Q:  When will meet fees be reimbursed for canceled events on or after 3/14/2020?

A:  Meet Directors who have collected entry fees for canceled competitions must return the entry fees back to the gym owners/operators by 4/10 in order to maintain in good standing with the USTA. Failure to do so will effect their ability to compete in Nationals and the upcoming 2020/21 season

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this challenging time.
